Plot 1: Environmental Time Series profile: This is a fundamental plot in Preventive Conservation. It shows the evolution of temperature (red curve, left vertical axis) and relative humidity (blue curve, right vertical axis) sequentially over time (horizontal axis).

As a general rule, plots should be read and explained as follows. First, identify the axes. Here the horizontal axis shows time, and the vertical ones show T and RH. Second, describe the lines or points. Here the lines describe the change in T (red) and RH (blue). Third, it is often useful to include an example, in this case it can be pointed out that frequently RH decreases when T increases. Finally, end with a take home message, for example that the environment is changeable or it shows remarkable seasonality.
I like to call this method ALEC, for Axes, Lines, Example, Conclusion.
